My name is Sauharda and I attend Khoury College at Northeastern University in the heart of Boston. Currently, I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in
Computer Science and Economics.
If you ask me, the two are rather contradictory subjects; whereas one is practical and very relevant in this era, the other is more theoretical and sometimes overly optimistic. Without a doubt, growing up in and around South Asia has influenced my choice in majors, interests, and goals. My experiences have pushed me to think critically about LEDCs and MEDCs alike—what makes countries and societies different but also what similarities they share—but also to strive to make an impact. And though these fields may differ, I think that is where they come together: in their potential to improve people's lives. Where one affords me with knowledge and helps me critically analyze the real-world, the other allows me to actually do something about it in a way that I find to be widely available and easily accessible.
Freshman year was the first time I had delved into the world of computer science, and I have never looked back. Alike most other programmers, I thoroughly enjoy the problem-solving aspect of coding and the mindset that nothing is impossible—the solution just lies behind several lines of code and funyuns. I am currently searching for a computer science internship/co-op opportunity for the coming
Spring 2021 semester
